Aston Pride Mela 06/08/2006 - Stand organised and run totally by our Sisters in order to raise funds for our new Masjid Project - Attractions included Mehndi, Face painting, Sale of various Islamic books and other items.
Both events not only raised the urgent funds required but went a long way to enhance community spirit and togetherness - Congratulations and well done on your magnificent effort and commitment.
The Ladies Fundraising committee was established during our Sirat-un-Nabi programme in June 2006.
This was done by the Ladies themselves with the primary aim of raising funds for our New Purpose Built Masjid (please see the New masjid Project from the home page for further details of the new Masjid)
Since the formation of the ladies fundraising committee they have to date managed two very successful fundraising projects. The latest one being the Fun Day / Mela on the 2nd September 2006 behind the existing Masjid and Madressa - see the images below to get a feel for what the day was about - and below this was their first ever project that of organising nad running a stall in Aston park for the Aston Pride Mela in August 2006.
Their effort in the two projects have raised in excess of £2200 - which has exceeded their own expectations.
This has been down to their shear hard work in getting donations for the two events as well as alot personal time spent in the organisation of the events - A big Thankyou to all contributors and donators for the two events.
